Introducing America’s “Vet*Net!” by Veteran Legacy Network
"Building a Lifeline for Our Nation’s Heroes"
Sadly, a reported 22 Veterans will die today…at their own hand.
Each day, America loses far too many Veterans to suicide—more than our daily losses in Vietnam. This is a crisis that underscores a profound need for meaningful connection, support, and solutions for those who served and their families.
Trained warriors, once taught that “pulling the trigger” was a necessary response in combat, sometimes struggle to reframe their thinking after returning home. When life doesn’t progress as expected, this ingrained mentality can tragically turn inward.
This challenge is not new. For generations, Veterans have faced hardships transitioning back to civilian life, relying on quality organizations like VFW and American Legion for support and camaraderie.
What’s changed in recent years is the role of technology and social media. Today’s veterans, especially millennials, are accustomed to seeking solace online. After service, many return to social platforms to reconnect with peers. However, social media is a double-edged sword: while it offers community, it can also amplify isolation, polarization, and digital threats.
Current online environment doesn’t always provide safe haven, despite high public trust—surveys show 80% of Americans respect Veterans and 90% believe supporting them is “extremely important!”
Veterans are not just verbally abused; they are systematically targeted for exploitation.
- Tremendous Fraud: Veterans are frequently targeted by predatory scams on social media. These scammers often use the language of respect and "appreciation" as a front to steal personal information or financial assets.
- Impersonation: Foreign actors and domestic scammers often create fake veteran profiles to spread disinformation, which leads to the real veteran community being viewed with suspicion or denounced as a source of "fake news."
Introducing America’s “Vet*Net!” by Veteran Legacy Network. Drawing inspiration from the enduring legacy of veteran support networks, “Vet*Net!” is a comprehensive online ecosystem dedicated to addressing nearly every challenge faced by veterans and their families post-service.
