Prayers for Charlotte
On Tuesday, October 27th, Emily (Grubbs) Smith and her family received the news that no parent wants to hear and can never be prepared for. Her sweet Charlotte, who is just 3 years old, has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Emily is one of my best friends and sorority sister. We met each other in Chemistry class our very first day of college and graduated from Georgia Southern in 2012. After we graduated, Emily went on to pursue her nursing degree (because a Bachelor’s degree in Biology didn’t set the bar high enough ). She currently works in the ICU at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. She has pretty much spent the last year (plus her other years of service) caring for those with Covid. She risks her life each and every day to care for those most severely affected by the pandemic to make sure those individuals make it home to their family. As if that isn’t stressful enough day in and day out, she’s now faced with some very tough news about her oldest daughter.
Emily is the strongest person that I know and would do anything for anyone at any given moment. She puts others first in everything she does, especially her husband, Brad, and their two precious daughters, Charlotte (3) and Olivia (1). While I feel Emily might deny this request if I had asked her ahead of time, I still feel I have a duty. I have a duty to make sure a fellow momma bear, best friend, and her family are taken care of. They are all going to need some support during these troubling times, whether it’s through prayer, a donation, or both. I’m not sure what their work schedules will entail as this is all so freshly painful. I do know that Emily and her husband need to be there for their oldest baby and have another baby to care for. My goal is to allow for whatever they need when they need it. Any amount would be greatly appreciated to support this amazing family, but with that being said, we know that a prayer is even more powerful. Please help us uplift this family in prayer and in support as they navigate through these difficult times and road of recovery ahead.
Thank you!!
