What is VenusGuard?
VenusGuard (VG) is not just an idea; it is a cutting-edge solution aimed at empowering women with the tools they need for safety and justice, by providing them with a layer of protection in situations where they may feel vulnerable. This innovative device aims not only to prevent sexual assault but also to send a powerful message to would-be attackers: every life is valuable, and our right to safety cannot be violated. My Body. Empowerment Through Innovation
Here’s how it works: VenusGuard is the only device of its kind. VenusGuard is worn like a tampon or menstrual cup. It is constructed from an elastic sheath embedded with razor-sharp barbs. While worn, it is discreet and cannot be seen or felt externally. Importantly, it has been extensively developed to NOT be able to cause injury to the wearer.
When an attacker penetrates the vagina, they inadvertently enter the VenusGuard device. Upon withdrawal, the barbs embed themselves into the attacker’s skin, causing intense pain and incapacitating them. This surprise effect gives the victim a critical opportunity to escape or fight back—reclaiming their power in a moment of vulnerability.
Additionally, the device is structurally reinforced on the inside, and can only be removed by a medical professional. This enables the positive identification of the attacker and assists in the collection of vital evidence for prosecution. The sleeve removed from the assailant contains the woman's DNA; evidence of the assault, that can be used in court, significantly aiding in legal proceedings and increasing the likelihood of conviction.
Our Mission: A Safer Tomorrow
We have conducted multiple rounds of development, creating functioning prototypes for testing and evaluation. Currently, we are at a pivotal stage where further improvements are needed before VenusGuard can be made available to the general public.
This requires investment in new materials, testing, and manufacturing technology, which comes at a cost we cannot meet alone.
We are seeking to raise USD $370,000 to support the final stages of development, including new molds and necessary testing. Once we secure this funding, VenusGuard can undergo pilot production, allowing us to manufacture components for clinical evaluations and subsequent market release.
