Raising money for my family

My name is Denise Holmes and I am a 36 year old mother of nine children. I am a single parent who recently came out of the shelter system and am trying my best to provide for my family. I was young when I had my first child and I tried to continue my education while taking care of my family, but I did not have a support system to help me finish school. I had with a few learning disability that made it even harder for me to get my high school diploma. I have not been able to return to school because of the lack of support for my family and I, so it has been very hard to find a stable job and income to provide for myself and all of my children. 



 Along the way there have been many hardships I have had to overcome for my family. One of my sons was diagnosed with leukemia at a young age. Thankfully he is alive today, but the bills for healthcare were another huge burden on me and my family. My son still suffers from in school and also has a learning disability. Though he has an IEP (Individual Education Plan) at his school, he does not get the support he needs to succeed. I want to do what I can to help him and all of my children be happy and succeed in life.



 The struggle to find employment and stability for my family has only been made harder because of Coronavirus, and we are now facing very difficult circumstances. Though I do receive government assistance to help me provide for my family, I am struggling to pay the amount of money I still owe every month for rent which is $275 I am now behind on my rent, my electric bills, and am struggling to make sure my children have food on the table and a roof over their heads. I am trying to raise $20.000 to cover four months of back-rent along with the rent I will owe over the next few months so my family will have some stability.



 This money will also go towards covering electric bills that I have struggled to pay and providing for my childrens many needs. This money will also help me look for and enroll in programs to help me get the education I need in order to get a better job and provide for my family on my own. Because of my learning disability I will need tutoring and other support to help me achieve this goal. I want to finish my education and be the best mother I can be for my children.
