Hello! My name is Peyton, or “Gracie” to Ms. Chloe, who this is about. I am currently fighting for custody of my 16-year-old cousin. Her father, who was her best friend, passed away in 2022, and since then, she has suffered neglect and abuse in her home. She had not seen doctors in years, never had a therapist, and was not even enrolled in school. She recently stayed a week with my husband and me in South Carolina, where we got her into some doctors and involved Child Services. Since we are in South Carolina, the process to get Chloe placed with us or to fight for permanent custody becomes a lot longer and more expensive. This means Chloe had to return to Tennessee for the time being, where she is living in hotels with no stable home life. Chloe believes she has autism, and she is in desperate need of being in a home that can care for her sensory needs and support her while processing the trauma she has endured. Chloe has been my “baby” since she was born, and I would spend every summer at her house helping raise her and bond with her. Although I moved out at 17, I have frequently visited for her birthdays and stayed in contact with her. She has heavily bonded with my husband over their love of DC and Marvel comics, and they hit it off immediately while she stayed with us. She also had to let us take her cat, MooMoo, as she was not allowed to keep her any longer. Any donations will go towards lawyer fees, hotel/gas money for our trips to TN and back (6.5 hours each way), and ultimately to build the perfect space in our home for Chloe. We truly appreciate every single donation as we fight for Chloe’s peace and safety. The minimum retainer for attorneys in our area is $3000-$5000 for cases like these.
Chloe’s needs include:
- intense dental work due to poor food choices and lack of hygiene
- long term therapy for her anxiety and trauma
- psychological assessment and follow up for her possible autism and adhd
- excessive need for clothing, we were able to get her a free basic outfits but she lacks a lot of feminine wear
- continued behavioral therapy due to isolation and lack of socialization
