I’m creating this GoFundMe to help my sister as she continues her fight against kidney cancer. Right now, she’s at stage two, which means the cancer is still contained in her right kidney but things have become more complicated. Her right kidney is not responding to treatment and the tumor has grown to about 11 cm. It’s getting close to the renal cortex (the kidney lining), and if it grows past that, it could reach stage three and begin spreading to other organs.

Her doctors have warned that if the cancer grows further, it could put pressure on the renal artery and vein, and she may need dialysis and surgery to remove the entire kidney. Unfortunately, her left kidney is still healing from a previous tumor, so surgery right now would be extremely risky.

She’s scheduled to begin another round of treatment next week — one chemotherapy session and two radiation sessions each week. There’s also a new abnormality in her lung that’s too small for a biopsy at the moment. Doing a biopsy right now could risk spreading the cancer, so her doctors are closely monitoring it while continuing treatment.

The main reason I’m asking for help is to cover her treatment and surgical costs.

Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward her medical care and give her a fighting chance before the cancer spreads further. My sister is staying strong, but she’s scared — scared that the cancer could grow beyond the kidney and make surgery too late.
