Nobody truly ever wants to ask for financial help, but sometimes you just have to put your pride to the side and reach out.
These past 6-9 months have been some of the roughest patches we've ever been through. My oldest son was working at the same place as I was, and between the two of us, we were keeping things going. That is until he lost his job. I tried my best to make it work, but let me tell you, it got really tough. Then, after a couple of months, he found another job. Unfortunately, by that time, he had fallen behind in his own bills, so he wasn't able to help like he was. Then he finally found his dream job working in the auto industry. Turns out that was to be short-lived as it was just temporary.
After what felt like a promising 2024, everything crashed down around October, November, when we started having to use space heaters to keep warm, and our light bill skyrocketed to over $600 a month. On top of our water, internet, phone, and car payments, it grew to where we were paying nearly $1500 a month in bills, as our energy assistance program we were enrolled in had elapsed without warning. Then in late November, early December, I came down with COVID, and due to improperly filled out paperwork by the doctor, I lost my job. We were left to rely on just my husband's social security.
About a month and a half ago, we received a notice that we were behind on our house and were given until March 8th to come up with $2500, or we lose the land contract that our house is on. In the time that has passed, we've reached out to family, friends, federal assistance, and even tried local charities. I just got back to work, and so did my son, but even then, we won't have enough time to come up with what is owed and need assistance.
My husband has Stage 4 COPD, which requires him to have to use a Nebulizer and Oxygen Machine throughout the day and night. Without a roof over our heads, his life is at risk due to not having a place to keep his machines powered.
Even if you can't help a lot, it adds up, and all donations are greatly appreciated. Shares even help.
