7th Annual South Tucson Shoe and Jacket drive
Project purpose:
As kick off the Christmas season, we look back at 2020 and realize what a difficult and unprecedented year it has been. The need in our communities has never been greater. That is why the 7th Annual South Tucson Shoe and Jacket Drive will go take place on January 09,2021! But it will look differently this year, with a drive-thru event taking place instead of an in-person gathering. While these changes are important to implement, the mission remains the same. We will continue to distribute new winter coats and warm closed toe shoes for the children in our communities and to help families who need a little extra help this year.
We are once again for your assistance with this event. We are requesting your donation to buy winter coats and vouchers for shoes to be distributed to the students identified by the Mission View and Ochoa Elementary schools. We are planning on helping about 60 kids this year. As always, individual donations will be accepted as well. We estimate it being around $75.00 to sponsor a child for a new winter coat and new shoes.
The coats and shoes will be brand new. In many cases these items are then passed down to younger children in the families as the students grow out of them.
We have been supporting children in the South Tucson community for the last 7 years. This year we won't be able to take the students to lunch at McDonald’s because of the COVID 19 pandemic, but we will still provide them with gift card for a meal.
