Help my God~Daughter stay with her Mother
Donation protected
In 2009 my cousin was able to come study in Oregon to build a better life, escaping the horrifically abusive situation she had suffered. Once in Oregon, with the support of her extended family, she began studying and to heal emotionally until she realized she was pregnant. In 2010 I was blessed to be present when she gave birth to my God~daughter who then became the center of her world. She realized she could NEVER return to Portugal as her abuser had already figured out she had run to family and was threatening violence toward her, the child, and anyone who had helped her.
Skip forward 10 years, she has received her B.S. from PSU, a succesful job at Legacy and has raised her beautiful 10 year old daughter (pictured with my daughter) as a single mom all without any goverment assistance. She has been in holding with immigration for 7 years with an extreme hardship petition, checking in with the local immigration every 6 months for a new stamp until 3 weeks ago when out of the blue and no explanation she recieved a letter from immigration telling her, after 7 years, that her visa had been terminated, she could no longer work and is in the removal process. Because both the U.S. and her country of origin denied travel documentation or an emergency passport to my god~daughter, due to covid, she has be in a suspended state unable to work to support them but unable to leave. She has almost exhausted her savings in attempt to fight the order and has accepted that her best recourse is to move forward in selling her belongings, and leaving, instead of incurring debt
All money raised will go toward expenses getting travel documentation approval and passport fees, travel expenses and cost of living in whatever European country they end up settling in until my cousin is able to find work which will be a challenge in the midst of this pandemic and the job freezes at an international level.
For their safety I am unable to share publicly names and details but am happy to have private conversations. As you can imagine we are frantically trying to gather funds to give her some sense of security as she is forced to completely build a new life in a new place for herself and her daughter. Anything is helpful and so appreicated. ~Deana
