A Family In Need
Donation protected
My name is Sultan M Hasan, I live in Illinois U.S.A.
The ongoing genocide in Gaza is heartbreaking, for the past ten months my wife stood by helplessly watching her aunts as they lived through the nightmare for the past ten months, Um Ahmad (one of six aunts) who lives in Khalid ibn al-Walid Street northern Gaza; when she reached out so we could start a GoFundMe on her behalf we were both happy and thankful that we could help her in any way.

Um Ahmad (Alia Mohamed al-Masry) has been married to Khaled Gamal Akila for over twenty-five years, Khaled had a Falafel and hummus shop, a car, a small truck, and a family building, like many people if not all people in Gaza he lost everything, the only thing that was left standing is the family house with its charred side riddled with shrapnel and bullet holes.

There is a food shortage in Gaza especially in the north, bread and the occasional canned goods are the only things people in the north can get, no meat, no vegetables, and no fruits for months, we all heard the stories and saw on social media about people in Gaza using the animal feed to make bread, or the spoiled humanitarian aid, and the food that even the animals don't come near it.

Um Ahamad family didn't want to leave Gaza, It is never easy to leave your family and friends, the place you call home but after ten months having a home became a luxury in Gaza, survival is all anybody can do, the GoFundMe campaign is for Khaled Akila (abo Ahmad), Alia al-Masry (um Ahmad), and their two kids Heba Akila, and Mahmoud Akila to cover the cost of travel to Egypt which keep changing, thanks to corrupt officials the latest costs anywhere from $5000 to $9000 US dollars each, not to mention the cost of getting the money into Gaza which also ranges from %5-%15 and got as high as %40, plus the cost of living(rent, food, and so on ) for few months, or to get a way for them to travel to England(her older brother lives there).

I doubt that there's anyone in Gaza who hasn't lost a family member or a friend, um Ahmad is no exception she lost three nephews to the indiscriminate bombardment, and her married daughters and grandkids are losing both weight and the smile off their faces, the donations will give the Akila family the chance to not only survive but also it will give them the ability to live with dignity, every dollar counts.

On behalf of the Akila family, I thank you for helping even if it's just a prayer.
With gratitude
Sultan Hasan
