Support for Rylee, In Loving Memory

Donation protected
February 6, 2022 Rylee Amaris Elizabeth Mathis gained her wings.  The message directly below is from the family.  Her amazing blessing of a journey is in the paragraphs and updates following the message.  Thank you all for your support and your prayers.

On behalf of the Mathis family, it brings us joy to say, with peace, that our princess has gained her wings and is playing amongst the heavenly clouds.  The Mathis family thanks you for your prayers, your tokens of grace, and your love.  At this time, we ask for continued prayer and strength for the family of Amaris “Rylee”.  We currently ask for privacy in the weeks to come.  All tokens of love can still be sent to the GoFundMe – Support for Rylee.  Any flowers or donations can be given through Hope Over Hurt Ministries.  All surplus proceeds will be donated evenly to Texas Children’s Hospital and Hope Over Hurt Ministries.  We send out love to you as we are aware that we all are grieving.  Please remember, this is a celebration of life, and we will celebrate her wings being given to a spirit that was bigger than any of us could imagine.  We have all been a witness to God’s true miracle, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Love Always with the biggest love we have as love is our arsenal!

The Journey:

Hi, my name is Jam, and this fundraiser is for my brother Edward, his wife Elle, and their daughter 14 months old Rylee. Rylee was born with Noonan Syndrome and has been fighting extremely hard to overcome some of the challenges that can come with this disorder. Rylee spent the first three month of her life in the hospital, getting released just in time to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family. Time at home was short lived though, with a return to the hospital just a few weeks later. Since then, Rylee has been in and out of the hospital and has had to have multiple surgeries. Her lymphatic system leaks fluid into her chest cavity which causes a lot of pressure resulting in her food not being able to sit in her stomach very long. As a result, she has not been able to gain much weight and is a very tiny baby. She needs to have surgery to correct her lymphatic system, but she is too small for the surgery.

On October 7th, Rylee was admitted for surgery to redirect her feeding tube from her stomach directly to her intestines in an effort to absorb more food so she can gain weight. On October 24th things took a turn for the worst and she coded. Doctors’ quick acting brought Rylee back, thank God, and she is now intubated but in stable condition. Her system has been under so much stress this has caused some other organs to be really stressed so more complications have surfaced, including fluid buildup all over her body including her head. Good news is none of this has affected her brain or heart. We thank God in advance for her complete healing.

Since Rylee’s birth, her parents have had to take long stints away from work. At this point, her parents are spending 24 hours at the hospital and are not able to work at all. The last 14 months have really been a burden financially.

We’re asking for help financially to keep them going. The family only has one vehicle because of a horrible car accident (where God spared Edward’s life) just a few months ago. They take turns traveling from the hospital to home to take care of Rylee’s bodyguards (the dogs) which is at least 2 hours of travel per day. They have the regular bills that need assistance such as mortgage and utilities. They also are having to buy meals at the hospital daily. There’s also gas and the hospital bills that are piling up and those they have yet to receive.

Additionally, since they are not able to work, they are having to pay for their portion of medical insurance through their jobs since it is normally taken out of their pay.

Any help is appreciated. If you’re not able to contribute financially, prayers are always needed.

November 10, 2021:

Update: Rylee has a small hole in her heart that is not directly causing any issues and can normally improve with age. Well, the doctors have decided they cannot wait until Rylee gains weight to do the surgery on her lymphatic system. The surgery is risky but needs to be done soon. In order to do the surgery to correct the lymphatic system, her heart has to be repaired first. Today she is having the heart surgery. Once it heals, she will have the lymphatic system surgery. Please keep Rylee and the family in your prayers.

February 9, 2022:

Hello family.  The procedure on the last update was not successful.  Doctors were not able to close the hole because the blood pressure was too high.  The doctors likened it to trying to close a door in the middle of a hurricane.  During the procedure though, it was discovered that Rylee had a heart condition called Cardiomyopathy that requires a heart transplant 98% of the time.  This condition wasn't detected in any of the normal ways doctors check for it.  Rylee's procedure gave the medical world a new, non-invasive way to check for this condition to help save lives of others and earlier than usual.

Fast forward to December 20, 2021:  Rylee's condition had improved and the pressure in her heart had decreased dramatically, and Doctors were able to successfully close the hole in her heart.  They also were able to inform the family that Rylee most likely did not need a transplant.  There would be a two-month period for the heart to heal completely in order for Rylee to be transported to special doctor in Philadelphia to complete the lymphatic system surgery she so desperately needed, as it was the main contributing factor to her condition. Then, she could come home.

Then, on February 6, 2022, before Rylee could have her lymphatic system surgery, the Lord said she would suffer no more, and she gained her wings. She was finally able to go home, but to the home we are all trying to get to one day.
