Help save the Hummingbird Senior Citizens Club

Hi everyone,

The Hummingbird Senior Citizens Club has been running for over 30 years. It was founded and managed by the late Louise and Percival Pitter until the club closed due to the pandemic. Most of the club’s members are seniors and attend to reduce loneliness and isolation, connect with others, and participate in various activities, including games, exercise, art, and crafts. Most importantly, they have buckets of fun. We also provide a meal during the sessions; for some, this ensures they have a hot meal for the day.

 

We’ve just reopened, and members constantly remind us of how much they missed the club and what it provides during the lockdown. Since reopening, we have also received many calls from family members and older people who are especially vulnerable to loneliness and social isolation and want to attend.

 

Until now, the club has been self-sufficient, but the running costs have suddenly risen considerably, and we do not have enough funding to keep the club going. The money raised from the Go Fundraiser will enable us to run the club for the next eight months while we raise further funds to meet these new costs and keep the club going long-term.
