We are absolutely devastated to announce the death of our much loved son & brother Sam Tucker. He passed away yesterday, Thursday the 7th of December at 23 years of age.
Sam had hypoplastic left heart syndrome & had suffered so much with his health over his 23 years. However he never let this stop him from doing anything he set his mind to. He had such a zest for life & loved his family & friends. There are many Sam stories we could all share & will when we celebrate Sam’s life.
We would also like to thank everyone that helped with Sam’s just giving bucket list .This really helped him have a focus & things to look forward to. The last thing we managed to do was only a fortnight ago when we went on the polar express with Albie & Poppy. He had a great time & we made some precious memories.
Our lives will never be the same again but will always have been enriched for being lucky enough to have Sam in ours ❤️
We will love you forever our darling boy xxxx
A bit about Sam’s story
As well as being a really cute and funny young lad, he was born with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome which basically means only half of his heart worked. He had three major ops from newborn to toddler. So not the best start in life for him. But what a courageous and smiley boy all the way through.
It has always been known that he would need a heart transplant at some point in his life. We hoped and prayed that this would happen sooner rather than later so this inspirational young boy could live a healthy and fulfilling life without suffering any further pain and hardship.
But unfortunately, a few years back it was discovered that a number of our family members had a rare genetic condition called Loeys-Dietz. This is a connective tissue problem that causes enlargement of the Aorta which can lead to aneurysms. A number of family members have had major heart ops because of this, Sam being one of them. It is a lifelong condition so regular hospital appointments and scans are essential.
Sam sadly has continued to deteriorate. His struggling heart has been fighting all his 23 years against all odds.
Sadly, recently, Sam was told that he has a number of health issues including liver failure, and this means he is no longer well enough for the possibility of a successful heart transplant.
Sam’s life expectancy has been reduced to a matter of months, or even weeks, and he can only be kept ‘comfortable’.
Sam has requested a ‘Fun’-eral. So this is where you nice people come in. Lets give this courageous and unique young man the best ‘fun’ eral we can. Let’s raise enough money so that he can fulfill his bucket list dreams before it is too late.
