Hi my name is Muna.
In our small community in rural Namibia, families walk long distances every day to collect water. Most of the time, the water is not safe, and this leads to sickness, especially in children. Many children also miss school because they spend hours helping their parents fetch water.
Our village, home to around 150 families, has only one water point, and it often runs dry. This leaves mothers with impossible choices — whether to send their children to school or keep them home to help gather water for the family.
We are asking for your help to drill a borehole with a solar-powered pump. I have raised fees to construct water storage tank stands. We hope these tanks will hold enough water not just for our village but for surrounding vilages as well. We built 6 meter high stands to ensure that the water travels with enoigh pressure to allow water to travel to as mant households as possible. This will give everyone in our community clean and reliable water. With your support we can:
Stop children from getting sick from unsafe water
Give children more time in school instead of walking long distances
Start small gardens for food and income
Lighten the heavy burden carried by women in the village
Goal:
$15,000 will cover drilling, the solar pump, and a water storage tanks.
