On Monday, August 11th, my dad was detained by ICE while on his way to a mandatory class. He was taken right in front of my brother, and we were told he would be at the jail. But something didn’t feel right. Hours passed with no answers, and later we learned Immigration Enforcement had taken him. Days went by without knowing where he was, and we spent sleepless nights worrying about his safety and well-being.

My dad has always been dedicated to his kids. Even after my parents divorced, he worked tirelessly seven days a week, from 6 AM to 7 PM to provide for us. He’s one of the kindest people you could ever meet, always helping those in need and teaching us the importance of generosity and humility.

Finally hearing from him was a relief, but our hearts still ache because he doesn’t deserve this. No one does. Separating families is cruel, and all we want is to have him back home.
