Ever since I was a little kid, I've been a "momma's boy." My hero (read mom), Debbie, is the one who instilled in me the belief that everything has the potential to be awesome. She has always been a beacon of optimism who would always say, "Jess, I don't know how and I don't know why, but someway somehow, it always works out." Even though she was a single mom, barely scraping by while raising two boys, she was always teaching us the importance of helping others. She taught us that if we had enough to eat, but someone else was hungry, we should share so neither person starved.

My mom guided me through the loss of my best friend Mark, who was shot and killed when I was 10 years old. She helped her community of addicts, in the NA program, find sobriety. She championed her friends and family, even if it meant she had to sacrifice.

Recently, my mom lost her home in New Jersey and has become homeless. She is about to turn 67, has two cats, Trouble and Simba, and my furry best friend Capone. Capone is our 14.5 year old pitbull, who realistically is getting closer to approaching the rainbow bridge. She stayed in a motel for a few days, but has since had to sleep in her car which is on its last legs.

I'm not in a position to help much from across the country, but my goal is to move my mom out to California where I can be of more help. I'm setting up this gofundme campaign in hopes of raising enough money to relocate my mom, get her a used car, and restore the light of her optimistic spirit that has dimmed.

My hopeful plan is to get some kind of van/suv/wagon for a temporary "van'mid'life" experience while I find her a place to live more permanetly.

Any money raised will go towards relocating my mom, Capone, Trouble and Simba from NJ to California.
