Mandy's Breast Cancer Journey

Update as of 4/8/23-- first, thank you to everyone who has donated, sent their well wishes and has lended a hand. I know this all has not gone unnoticed and Mandy and Lee and all her family and friends appreciate the support. Mandy had her second Chemo appointment this past Tuesday. Unfortunately even with some some changes made to her meds, her body is still struggling with it and has needed fluids and potassium. With medical bills starting to come in we are continuing to ask for gofund me shares and donations to help them through this time along with selling bracelets for $4 a piece her niece has gotten all set up. We have started this page, on behalf of our best friend Mandy Bochanyin (maiden name Dammann), her husband Lee, and their 3 children Kyden (15), Nova (4), and Axel (6 months).

At the end of February 2023, Mandy had a handful of tests done and unfortunately the diagnosis was what we prayed so hard it not to be. She was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast cancer and has just begun the journey to fight it. As many know, the cancer journey is a long tough road. Right now she is currently on chemo and her body is not handling it well. We all expected chemo would be challenging however now actually living it we are learning very quickly how challenging this journey is going to be on her. She is also scheduled for a double mastectomy for June.

Lee has been amazing and has already missed quite a bit of work to be by her side and take care of the two little ones. She lives an hour away from family and friends, and her mom and Lee's family have gone above and beyond to try to make life a little easier on them traveling regularly to help with the kids and housework and where the extra hands are needed. We are currently in the works to try to set up a schedule for someone to be with her during the days after her chemo appointments and starting meal preps to take away extra stress of daily life.

Our goal is to be able to help relieve some of the financial burden so they can focus solely on their family and Mandy's health. Mandy is currently unable to work and Lee is missing quite a bit of work to be by Mandy's side through all of this. Not only the medical bills, but the extra time needed for sitters, travel costs, and all the necessities needed to fight the cancer diagnosis. Daycare costs for the sitters alone are 10-12 dollars an hour so even being able to alleviate that weight would be so helpful to give Mandy and Lee the peace of mind the kids are in good hands while Mandy's resting and Lee works.

From the bottom of our hearts we appreciate any and all support you can give to this amazing family who would quite literally give the shirt off their backs for someone in need (and have done so for us so many times). It's our turn to return all the love and generosity they have shown to me and so many other people throughout the years. If you can't donate. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Mandy's a fighter and we have no doubt she will get through this with her family by her side but hoping we can make this journey a small bit easier on them and take a bit of the weight off their shoulders while they navigate through the unknown.
