Matty's Road to Recovery

Hi my name is Lance Zilney, Matty's oldest brother.

As many of you know Matty he is the most loving and caring guy anyone knows and he is the best uncle to his nephews, he would drop anything on a dime to give anyone a hand. Hardworking and the most generous person anyone would meet.

On Saturday March 30th, he suffered a fall doing what he loves, getting ready for hunting. He suffered a break to his spine at his T12 vertebra and has undergone extensive surgery to fuse his spine. He is paralyzed from waist down with the likelihood not to walk again. He is under the care of a great surgical team at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

He will be in their care for approximately another week and will be transferred to a spinal rehab facility where he will undergo extensive physio and other treatments to help him navigate life in the future.

Many have asked if a gofundme or something of the nature had been set up to help assist him in his journey over the next few months and years to come while he is in care and for his return home.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide him, there are some pretty large medical bills in his new future to fit him for a wheel chair and equipment that will be needed to assist him in everyday life.
