As many of you know, late Thursday afternoon, Kim suffered a stroke. A blood vessel within her brain began bleeding. This was not a scenario where her brain was starved of oxygen, instead, there too much blood. Upon further investigation, her doctors also found a clot. Doctors immediately put her on blood thinners in hopes of minimizing the clot. Due to the location of it, it sounds like surgery is not an option, and it's now a waiting game to see if it'll shrink with the blood thinners. Recent scans have shown that the clot has not gotten any bigger, which is good news.

It's important to note that the stroke is what's considered a "caused" stroke. In this case, the cause is believed to be estrogen-based birth control. She had recently made a switch to a different kind.

She is currently in intensive care and will be in the hospital for close monitoring for the next few days. She is alert, and very much still herself, but has some communication barriers as the bleed has affected the left side of her brain and her speech center. Doctors believe she should be able to make a full recovery, but it will probably be a long road ahead for her. At this point, only time will tell.

JJ, the boys, and her family are sticking close to her right now. At this time, the family doesn't have a specific need or ask of others. Since everyone is still in a waiting pattern, it's uncertain what is needed. Once there is a better understanding of what could be helpful, we will do what we can to coordinate and communicate it.
