I’m Liz and this fundraiser is for my new nephew, Jacob, and his parents.

 

Jacob is the firstborn of Josh and Kayla and was born on January 7, 2022. He was delivered in Charleston, SC (roughly 130 miles from where they live) due to some abnormalities with his heart that showed up at one of Kayla’s prenatal appointments.

 

Jacob has already undergone one surgery, but is still in Charleston being monitored, because there are more things.

Ok, so Jacob had a couple things going on with his heart. He has an interrupted aortic arch, a double outlet right ventricle and the bigger of the issues hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The interrupted arch just means his arotic arch grew, stopped at a spot and started again and just required to be reconnected. His double outlet and hypoplastic left heart kinda go hand in hand. I'll attach a picture so you can  see what I mean but simply put his left side is smaller than his right and his arterial and venous blood are both dumping in the right ventricle. He has had one surgery so far the allow his heart to grow and allow him to get bigger so he can have a second surgery and hopefully his last.

 

 

Josh sent me this, because he knows I’m visual and that I learn better through visual things.

 

Between surgeries, NICU and having to live in Charleston temporarily, Josh and Kayla could definitely use some financial support, if you feel led and are willing/able.
