My name is Brian, and I am starting this fundraiser first and foremost to bring my family back together.

My significant other and our two children currently reside in Mexico, where we all lived together for a number of years. Now circumstances have suddenly changed for us. I have been accused of a serious crime that I did not commit, and as long as the case is active, I am not allowed to travel over the border to see my family. The case active against me could drag out, in some cases they drag on for many years, and I can't bear to be apart from my fiancee and children for so long. In addition, because of the nature of the case against me, I am concerned that I and my family have become the target of bad people in Mexico, and I am terrified that someone will come after them. I want very much to relocate them to the United States, however, my fiancee does not have citizenship in the US. I have consulted with immigration attorneys, and the process to get papers for her so that we can all reside together again is extremely costly. My first and most important goal in this fundraiser is to get the 8 - 10 thousand dollars that will cover legal fees and get the process in motion.

My secondary goal is to raise money to cover legal expenses related to the case against me. I had to borrow heavily in order to hire an attorney to handle my case and to make sure I could stay free and able to work and support my family. In total, I had to borrow in excess of 40 thousand dollars from my parents savings in order to remain a free man. It seems to be an insurmountable amount of money, especially during these tough times, and yet I do not want to leave my parents with no savings which they worked hard for their whole lives.

As much as I do not want to beg for help, I recognize the situation I am in, and just want to be able to see my kids again.

I am trying to remain optimistic about the case against me, but I also can't ignore the reality that the government wants to lock me up for something I didn't do, and if they succeed, my children will not have anyone to provide for them. If by some miracle this fundraiser gathers money in excess of my goals, I want to use it as a safety net to make sure they are taken care of. And if (as I hope and pray) I get back my freedom, I would like to take any excess money and donate it to others being mistreated in this way.
