As the old African proverb goes.... "it takes a VILLAGE to raise a child" and that is our goal for building our VILLAGE.
My name is Kim Sims-Battiste and I am a Professional Dancer, Choreographer and Fitness Instructor in vibrant Oakland, CA. I am also the owner of a non-profit Hip-Hop Dance Company called, Culture Shock® Oakland, that has been in the Bay Area for 20 years. It is time for us to have our OWN home to house all our programs. When we open the doors to The Village we will be able to provide dance and fitness classes for people in our Community that are much needed by instructors that have worked in Dance and Fitness Industry for many years.
Our goal with opening "THE VILLAGE" is to provide dance, fitness and movement classes to the Oakland Community that have never been offered before. Introduce programs that are affordable and accessible for everyone as well as brighten up the Oakland area with FUN, ACTIVE ENERGY and a new BRIGHT STAR..... "THE VILLAGE"!!!
Community Programs we will offer along with all our AMAZING DANCE CLASSES and SCHEDULE:
URBAN ED 101 - An after school dance and fitness program using elements of the old school "President's Physical Fitness Testing" to encourage kids to get fit and let them dance as a reward.
Community Collective - free classes, training and outreach to our surrounding community members to get them to move and educate them on health and fitness.
Thyck Chyck Fitness - fitness program that encourages women and young girls with Beautiful Curves to keep them, get fit and be confident about who they are through Fitness and Dance.
