I’m Missy (from Pennsylvania) - Laura’s aunt. I’m setting up this fundraiser on behalf of Laura and her immediate family to help support their financial needs during this difficult time.

Laura has defied the odds since birth. She was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease), which causes extremely fragile bones. Anyone that knows Laura, knows she does not let her condition define her. She is a true sports fanatic and despite her fragile bones, limited mobility and small stature she always finds a way to be involved, as "sitting on the sidelines" is just not her style. She's also a diehard Steelers & Pirates fan (yes, even though she lives in North Carolina!). Her determination to live life fully, no matter the risk, speaks volumes about her personality and spirit.

Now, at just 23, she is facing a new fight that came unexpectedly and without warning. In May 2025, she was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer located in her pelvis. For most, that diagnosis alone would feel impossible, but for Laura, it’s just another challenge she has come ready to face head-on.

Prior to her cancer diagnosis her life had been filled with countless broken bones, long hospital stays and many surgeries including rods placed in her femur, tibia & humerus. Through it all she has always met those obstacles with resilience and determination. That same strength is carrying her through this new fight.

Against all odds, Laura recently graduated college while working 2 part time jobs and was beginning her career search in the medical field when her world was turned upside down. On June 5th, she began chemotherapy, a treatment plan expected to last nearly a year and include at least one major surgery in October. Each round of chemo requires several days in the hospital, with travel to treatments over an hour from home. In September, Laura and her mom traveled to Texas to consult with multiple specialists to confirm she's on the right path given her special circumstances. This journey has already been physically grueling, emotionally draining, and financially overwhelming.
