Rainbow Ridge Forest Defense Basecamp Fund

Donation protected
Forest Defenders on Rainbow Ridge need your help in their on-the-ground campaign to defend the ancient forest and waters of the Mattole River from exploitative logging and spraying of toxic herbicides like Roundup. Nonviolent direct action to stop Humboldt Redwood Company's destructive plans has been ongoing since 2014, continuing the decades long struggle for the future of this place. This has included blocking logging with their bodies, occupying threatened trees and barricading roads, with the hope that the forest can be protected until a more permanent conservation agreement or land transfer is accomplished. From August 24th to September 12th, a support basecamp will be set up to provide logging site information, training and resources for a gathering of forest defenders organizing against HRC's destruction of the newly discovered nesting site of a Northern Spotted Owl. This owl habitat, protected until August 31, is nestled in the middle of a timber harvest plan area that will expire September 11, giving HRC only 11 days to log this sensitive species habitat. These funds will go towards campsite rentals, travel assistance, kitchen expenses, communications, media and outreach, backcountry gear. The support shown by the public has been the backbone of this direct action struggle, your financial assistance is an action of solidarity you can take from a distance that directly helps keep this forest standing.
