Help Monica keep her kids during an ugly divorce

Hello, my name is Ademola Animasaun, and I am starting this GoFundMe to raise support for ongoing legal fees for my friend and her children as she is battling an unexpected and contested divorce filed by her husband. After a 12 year unbalanced marriage Monica and her husband separated while they were serving in Rome, Italy as ministers in The Salvation Army, when he tried to bring the children to the US without Monica and attempts at marital counseling just did not work. The family’ssudden repatriation to Atlanta occurred less than two weeks later.
Her sons, Elijah (9) and Benjamin (6), are her pride and joy and what was supposed to be a simple and peaceful divorce (with details worked out after reconciliation was not an option) has unfortunately become a nightmare in a highly contested divorce. The boy’s father listed lie after lie and filed for emergency temporary custody among other personally damaging things. A few weeks ago, her husband’s lawyers did whatever they could to back out of a custody hearing that they requested because they know they will lose.
Their family celebrates the small victories and believe that God is faithful and in control. To date she has paid over $16,000 to not lose her children and somehow her husband still has a flush bank account. Monica will continue to fight for her boys like a mother bear trapped in a corner.
Right now, she is living in Atlanta and she, Andrew, and the boys cannot leave the state until the custody situation is settled. She has no family and no support in Atlanta.
They do not have a large family and they do not have the means like others having grown up in the Kensington are of Philadelphia. Both of their parents have passed away and what little family they have support each other. What they do have is love. I am asking for your support so that she knows she is not alone.
