In Memory of Jake: Support for Skyler's Future
Donation protected
What was supposed to be the best time of the year for our little family has turned into the worst imaginable nightmare for my 6-year-old (7 years old within a few days) and me.
The evening of November 11 was just like any other. We had dinner, played our favorite board game, and went to sleep. We had no clue that life was about to change forever. My love and my son's beloved father, protector, and best friend closed his eyes to sleep, only to never open them again. He passed away and left us with the biggest hole in our hearts. For many years now, it had been only the three of us and three of us only. We were trying to build a better life. He was a good life partner to me and an even better father. He loved his son the most on this planet. If he wasn't working, you could find him right at home or at the park throwing a football. Through many struggles life threw at him, he maintained the role of a present father, which now leaves my son feeling the incredible void. We miss him, and we will never stop keeping his memory alive. His boy Skyler will continue to dance, he'll continue to perfect his handstands, and will watch football and Monday Night Raw as he did with dad literally since he was a newborn. It'll never be the same, of course, but we must learn to live in the new normal.
This GoFundMe is being created not only in his loving memory but also to help his little boy for the near future and all that is to come. We appreciate any help, and we can only pray that each day gets a little better.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out and showed up thus far. Lots of time Jake was cynical about these things, but boy is he up there smiling. I can picture him being proud and happy that so many people remember him for the good he brought to their lives.
