Hi my name is Cole, and I have been a member of my local Scouting troop for 6 years. To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, one needs to first complete a project that helps an organization or establishment in their community, where the scout needs to arrange, plan, and fund raise for the project. For my project, I have decided to install a set of stairs on a steep hillside at my local middle school. One motivation for choosing this location is my own memories of slipping, sliding, and trying not to fall down the dirt hill, along with other students rushing to class. Installing a staircase will dramatically increase the school's safety and possibly inspire others to join the Boy Scouts. However, this staircase will involve lots of materials, tools, and labor, all of which are too much to be funded by one teenager. In fact, the majority of the funding ($2000) will be going towards a single material, pressure treated landscaping timbers. These railroad tie style beams will form the border for each step, and will help blend in to the schools rustic atmosphere. By donating towards this project, you are helping to make a school a safer place, and assisting a Scout to achieve a rank only 4% of all Scouts ever get. Thanks again for any contributions you can make. Sincerely,
Cole
