Gaza support: Wajehha needs cancer treatment

Combined with another other GoFundMe for Wajehha (here is a link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/gaza-support-wajehha-needs-cancer-treatment) we have reached our visa and transportation goal to help Wajehha and her family out of Gaza safely, so Wajehha can get the life-saving medical care she so urgently needs. ❤️ We are continuing to raise money to help the family settle in in Gaza and buy food amidst the current starvation conditions in Gaza. We have closed the other Go Fund Me as it was in Danish kroner and are instead using this Go Fund Me as it allows Americans and other nationalities more easily to donate, and to work towards our goal. About Wajehha and her family

Wajehha (29 years old), her husband Yaseer (35 years old) and their son Amar (9 years old) are from Gaza City, Rimal Neighborhood, but since the war they fled as thousands of others for safety in the South. However, no place is safe in the Gaza Strip anymore. Wajehha has been a cancer patient for years and before the war she was in treatment. But there is no longer access to such medical treatments in Gaza and her condition is worsening.

We therefore need your support to collect additional funds for Wajeeha and her family to settle in to their new life in Egypt as soon as their visas are approved. Even a little contribution can help her with co-pays to receive the treatment she needs and improve her health. Her husband and son also need to go with her so the family can stay together. Leaving Gaza is not easy, nor is suddenly navigating life in Egypt after experiencing over a year of horror in Gaza, including starvation conditions. We are currently raising more money for buying food at horribly high prices in starvation conditions, for money to settle into a new life in Egypt, and for cancer treatment co-pays.

About the fundraisers

We are Marielle Buxbaum (American) and Julie Sand (Danish). Both of us have met Izzeldin Bukhari (cousin of Wajehha) during life-changing years in Jerusalem.

Marielle: I met chef Izzeldin while I was conducting research in Jerusalem. He leapt at the opportunity to help me with my research and collaborate with me on a play, and in turn I want to give him support as he so generously gave me.

Julie: I met Izzy at a food tour in the Old City of Jerusalem and this tour turned into a beautiful friendship during the years I lived in the City while working for the United Nations. Him and his sister from Gaza introduced me to the Palestinian cuisine and he always opened his door for me. I care for him and his family deeply and I am therefore fundraising for his family in Gaza to get to safety.
