The family of Jacob want to thank each of you for your prayers and support over the past four months.
Jacob was born Christmas Day 2017, with severe congenital heart defect called Tetralogy Of Fallot. TOF is a rare condition caused by a combination of four heart defects present at birth. As a result , Jacob needed open heart surgery at 7 days old to repair 2 of the 3 holes in his heart. Due to the heart defects, Jacob was born with abnormalities to his left arm and leg, tethered spine and the need for an ostomy.
During Jacob's hospitalization, he was on ECMO (a machine that pumps the heart) for a week. At one point , he stopped breathing. Praise be to God, Jacob survived. Doctor's were amazed on how well he would bounce back from the setbacks, experienced during the first two months of his life. Jacob will require many surgeries over many years to correct the abnormalities (orthopedic surgery, reverse ostomy surgery and second heart surgery).
Jacob appeared as one of three babies bringing awareness to Congenital Heart Defect on February 1 National Red Hat Day.
Although Jacob is home, there are monthly doctor visits and medical support needed at home. His mother works diligently to provide care and make him comfortable.
The money raised from this fund will go to Jacob's mother, my daughter, Tiara Francis, to use as she sees fit. She is a first time, single mother giving her heart, to take care of an ill child. Tiara just recently returned to work, however, it is hard to keep a steady schedule, if Jacob needs to go to the emergency room or has several doctor appointments during the week. The support from this fund will allow Tiara to focus on Jacob and not worry about missing work often, eliminate stress of paying bills and help with gas and parking fees traveling to and from the hospital.
Continue to keep Jacob and Tiara in your prayers for strength and healing for the plethora of challenges that lie ahead. Pray for the doctors, that their God given skills will mend the broken pieces.
Jacob is a fighter, a warrior , a testament of the goodness of God.
