Transgender Day Of Remembrance

Hi, my name is Cheryl Kaplan, and I’m on the board of PFLAG Gainesville, and on the planning committee for Transgender Day Of Remembrance.

Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as TDOR, is a vigil held yearly on November 20th to raise public awareness of violence against transgender people, as well as, mourn and honor the lives of those who might otherwise be forgotten. This day also provides an opportunity for the City of Gainesville and the surrounding areas to step forward and stand in vigil to remember those who have died by anti-transgender violence, as well as honor and celebrate the transgender community.

TDOR will be held on Sunday November 20th at the steps of City Hall from 7pm to 9pm.

Your contribution will go towards
- Event items and equipment needed: sound, candles, handheld flags, rental fees, etc.
- Documentation: Permits and insurance
- Safety: Hand sanitizer, masks, and security

Please join me, PFLAG, Alachua TranQuility, Unspoken Treasure Society, University of Florida Pride Student Union, The Pride Community Center, and our numerous support groups in remembering our lost souls and help us support folks who are suffering just for being who they are. It’s got to stop!
