Hi, my name is Samantha and I am going on a mission trip to South Africa in efforts to bring my knowledge and passion of sports. As a previous athlete over the years combined with experience in teaching gymnastics and dance, I believe that this mission inspired me to make a difference where possible.
I previously worked in a lab researching Malaria in support of creating a vaccine for children. I couldn't ask for a better opportunity knowing this experience will have a large impact on me as well.
Mission trips offer a unique chance to experience new cultures while doing meaningful work and serving others. I will be working with children aged between 6 and 12 years old to teach sports development. This includes:
- Planning and delivering innovative physical education lessons
- Arranging and running games and activities
- Teaching popular local sports or introducing new ones
- Coaching, mentoring and encouraging students to enjoy sport
"It is important to note that resources are limited and if you wish to introduce a sport, you will need to bring any equipment with you." - IVHQ
I'm looking forward to making an impact on children in communities that lack the funds and resources to provide physical education classes. I am also ecstatic to not only get to know these children, but to give them supervision and guidance that enables students to practice and enjoy a range of sports, and learn how to utilize teamwork and sportsmanship!
