The Police Accountability Board Alliance
Donation protected
Your donation to the Police Accountability Board Alliance is one important way to support our work, and to remember and honor those whose lives have been disrupted, uprooted, destroyed, or ended by police misconduct committed by the Rochester Police Department.
The Alliance supports the Rochester Police Accountability Board (PAB) that came into existence in 2019. The legislation that made the PAB possible was a good step toward substantive police accountability, and makes Rochester, NY the city with the most progressive civilian oversight in the United States.
The Alliance helps select members for the Board, educates the public, and supports the PAB in its work. We rely on public donations to enable us to do our work. In 2021, we anticipate that our five standing committees and various ad hoc committees and projects will require approximately $11,000 to carry out our responsibilities. This is your opportunity to support the Alliance by donating to this year’s fundraising campaign.
In addition to such things as purchasing postage, postcards and brochures; paying for American Sign Language services; and covering the cost of a social media presence, a portion of our budget is earmarked for developing a restorative practices system to help us work through conflict that could disrupt our work.
