Last week, I met two local homeless families & they are both in need of immediate shelter. I started this GoFundMe as a 5-DAY FUNDRAISER in hopes of securing immediate shelter for these specific families.
In this year of HOPE, I am praying for 300 friends through social media, & friends of friends, to make a $50.00 contribution to this cause. With your help, we can drastically change the lives of these families.
This is a true call to the pro-life movement in supporting women & families post-pregnancy & supporting them through their struggles. It’s easy to demand that women keep their pregnancies, but then after they have their babies, so many are lost & without support, or afraid that their children will be taken away by the government because they are homeless. This can be bad, & this can be good, but for families that can’t keep a roof over their head & try so very hard, this is a devastating reality. Both moms & dads are trying to find work & are in desperate need to find a safe place for their families before the winter months.
Can you imagine trying to find work, food & money without a car, job, or childcare? Resources are out there, but they are spread out, & getting through is very frustrating.
Many of these families do not have a support system because they are a result of generational poverty. Their extended families are also struggling & worried about eviction because of an overpopulated apartment or housing situation by trying to help out the ones they love.
The worry & stress on their shoulders is beyond anything most of us could ever imagine, and for that, I am most grateful to God. We are all so blessed.
While I am personally exhausting government-aid resources, driving them to appointments, & holding their hands through the process, spending money on “extended stay” hotels does not make sense financially. Shelter is a serious issue within the system & these kids & families deserve a safe place. We can help! You can help.
This is a “boots on the ground” effort spearheaded by me (Kate Bauer) to get two families into a home ASAP. With your contribution, we will be able to purchase a small home in Florissant where they can reside as we seek a long-term solution. In the end, the home would be a great "rent to own" opportunity for one of the families.
Your donation is not just a handout, but a hand up. It's just not as easy as it seems. I wish calling 211 was enough!
Thank you to all of those who have so very generously donated thus far, & thank you to those who will add to the pot.
100% of the proceeds will go directly to this specific housing & general support effort. Thank you in advance for your generosity, trust & support. Love, Kate
