HELP, the Dominique Learning Centre!
Donation protected
The
Dominique Literacy Centre:
The Dominique Literacy Centre is an initiative of my friend, Claire Cameron and her husband Franz Dominique whose father was killed in the earthquake on January 12, 2010. The centre bears his name and is in his memory. Currently the centre provides a learning opportunity for 24 students; employment of two teachers; and one hot meal per day for each student and staff member.
We
have the opportunity to buy a building, which would allow the school to have 75
students!
Owning rather than renting would also provide the school/centre with the opportunity to apply for extra goods and services from World Wide Aid Organizations.
Right now, 24 children are learning to read and write; 24 children have a place to be instead of wondering around; their parents are free to pursue work or help others; the teachers are able to provide for themselves and their families; the hot meal ensures each person affiliated with the school has one, hot, quality meal each day; and those who make the food are also provided with employment and means to help their families. And so the circle continues:. It would be wonderful to expand this circle threefold!
Please
help: You will receive a receipt for
your donation, as well as my heartfelt thanks and the gratitude of the children
and staff of the Dominique Literacy Centre.
