Hello. As hard as this is for me to do, we all have to put our pride to the side and ask for help sometimes. Most of you know Hayden Sullivan. He is our (Dylan Dover and I) 16-year-old son. He is a very quiet, shy, amazing, loving young man. He was a student of Reed Custer Grade School and Middle School and now is a member of the GSW High School. Hayden was born with an enlarged aortic valve, which they attempted to fix when he was just a year old with open-heart surgery. Unfortunately, that was only a band-aid for a much larger problem. We have had a few scheduled surgery appointments for this summer to once again try to repair his valve. We had a few bumps along the road, but finally, tomorrow morning, we will be taking the trip to Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago where Hayden will be undergoing a surgery known as The Ross procedure. During this surgery, they will take Hayden's pulmonary valve and replace his aortic valve with it. In hopes of using his own valve, there will be less resistance and problems for Hayden. Some of you may know my husband is a hardworking, loving husband and father while I stay at home with our 3 children. As hard as my husband works we are just needing to ask for a little help. We do have medical coverage through his employer which obviously won't cover everything. We were hoping to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, but unfortunately, it has been booked all summer. I got the phone call at 9:45 this morning that they are still running at full capacity, which will leave my husband and other 2 children without a place to stay. We also will need to be able to get the kids to places throughout the city and various other things that have now come up. Everything else will go towards Hayden his bills and his aftercare. I was originally not going to do this, but now with everything going on again, I have to put my pride aside and ask for help. Any amount will help at this point, and I know it's short notice. If you can't donate, please share. Any help will be appreciated. And please send lots of prayers for our family and especially Hayden. This has been a long and scary journey for him, but in the long run, the cardiologists do believe this will help Hayden. I appreciate everyone.
