This May, I'm taking on the challenge of my first Olympic distance triathlon to raise vital funds for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, a cause that has profoundly impacted my family.
My mum is currently living with familial idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and is on the transplant waiting list, hoping for a chance at more time with her family. Over the past four years, we've lost my two aunts to this disease, and my uncle has undergone a double lung transplant in his own fight for survival.
Watching this condition steal the breath and lives of people I love has been heartbreaking. There is currently no cure for pulmonary fibrosis, and treatment options remain limited. That's why the work of Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis is so crucial. They fund research, provide support for patients and families, and work tirelessly to improve outcomes for those affected.
Every stroke in the water, every pedal on the bike, and every step of the run will be dedicated to everyone fighting this disease, especially my mum. I'm racing for a future where families don't have to watch their loved ones struggle as mine has.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. Thank you for supporting this cause that means everything to me.
