On the morning of 11/14/2025 a Southampton family entered their worst nightmare. Fire crews were called at 7:37 a.m. for what began as a car fire that quickly spread to the garage. Multiple departments responded, and thankfully no one was hurt. Six cats were safely rescued, though one is still missing.

My coworker received the devastating call while she was at work, learning that their home was currently on fire. The damage caused by the fire has caused structural damage and is now officially condemned. While not everything inside was destroyed, she, her partner, and his mother are working hard to salvage whatever they can, but the majority of the home and belongings are either lost or unsafe to keep.

They now face the overwhelming task of rebuilding their house from the ground up, along with vet bills, temporary living expenses, and the loss of many personal items.
