69th ID LHA get an M-1934 Pyramidal Tent

The 69th Infantry Division Living History Association is dedicated to keeping the memory alive, and tell the story of, the men who served in the 69th ID (as well as the US Women's Army Corps) during WWII. Through public living history programs, we interpret period artifacts and techniques to visitors, and try and portray the human side of America's WWII generation.

In order to do this more effectively, we are in need of a large M-1934 Pyramidal tent to house the unit members at various events. A tent like this costs in the neighborhood of $4000.00 and is beyond the cumulative resources available to our membership (let alone individual members).

A tent such as this allows us more effectively, and accurately interpret US Army Soldier life. Visitors will be able to see exactly how US troops were billeted in the European Theater of Operations, and it will allow us a small degree of comfort when we are at events that are extremely hot, or cold.

As one of the founding members of the group, being able to continue on with this mission, as accurately, and effectively, as we can is paramount to us as an organization.

The funds raised will be used to buy the tent, wood for making poles, ropes, and stakes. It will be unit property, and should the unit disband at any point, the tent will be sold at fair market value, and the money donated to a US Military related charity. The same would occur should we fall short in our goal.
