First and foremost, we never dreamed we would be needing "The Go Fund Me Page". But circumstances have made our situation dire and no resources available presently. Being aware of so many families, people, and so many problems facing the world needing help, we can only pray someone reads this and can offer any kind of help.
We met at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS and we were given the news that we would be starting a family shortly before I graduated. As many before us, education took on a minor role to the family one. We now have 3 wonderful non-verbal autistic children. Dean was born in April of 2014, Samuel was born in February of 2016 and Piper was born in November of 2018.
We realize the general public may not be aware of the struggles, hardships, sicknesses, and increased finances that are a part of autism. Our writing is not to receive pity for we are blessed with our children. But to try and explain how we got to the point where we have to reach out.
Before the pandemic it was already a struggle for my husband and I to afford the extra needs for our children. Insurance only helps so much, and its always a battle to get them to medically understand how important early intervention is for our children. As well as the public school system, therapists and society to accept how different they are and to encourage the exposure on both ends.
Covid-19 sent our household into turmoil in every way but working together has kept us going and for the simple fact that our children need us to advocate for them. My husband has gotten a very low amount of hours due to inflation and other circumstances that the company he works for has little to no work but he continues to seek more employment. It can be difficult with my own health issues, when all the children get sick (we literally go by their behaviors and basic medical check list because they can’t tell us.) my husband has to miss work to help care for them & he usually catches what they have so he misses even more work. Due to the lack of support for public schooling in our area, I homeschool our children. There are only a few select people who can help care for our children if we are sick or have to leave them with someone (usually grandma).
Any funds donated to help our family will be used to pay past due bills, sensory items (pull ups, diapers, wipes, specific foods for the children, etc.), supplies for homeschooling, vehicle repairs, clothes and other much needed household items. In closing, we thank you in advance in taking the time to read our plight and or anything you can offer.
Sincerely,
The Taylors
**Update: First we want to thank each and every one for your donations and support for our family. Since starting this fundraiser, Billy tested positive for Covid-19 and has missed two weeks of work. Before that his hours were less than 40hrs for two weeks. The company he works for has barely any work available due to inflation and import/export issues nation wide. We are increasing our goal to help fill the gap due to the loss of income. He is currently looking for new employment but that takes time. Thank you all again for your support God bless ❤
