Ghana Service Trip

Hi! My name is Tula and I am 16 years old. I am trying to raise money for a volunteer trip to Ghana, Africa this summer. I will be working with the volunteer organization Projects Abroad. I will be in Ghana for four weeks which includes two weeks of care and community and two weeks assisting a phyical therapist. During the whole trip I will be staying with a host family.  I will be doing different types of service work in the community which could include helping schools, orphanages, or other community groups. 

I traveled to Africa three years ago with my family, and I’ve always remembered it as being my favourite trip and just loving everything about it. We stayed with a friend of my dad’s who was working on building an educational center, called the Land of Hope, which offered basic health and educational services to the community. Seeing this process and the potential it could offer that community fostered an inspiration for me to travel back to Africa another time, but to help out and not just for vacation.

The trip costs about $5,000 and my goal is to raise $4,000.00 ; the money covers my airfaire, housing and all my expenses while in Ghana. I have been working and trying to raise money to pay for $1,000 myself.
