Hello, my name is David and I am fundraising for my partner Jorden.
Jorden is a keen cyclist, whose bike has taken him all over the country, including on a 250 mile cycle trip to Paris last in 2023. Cycling is Jorden's main form of travel and how he commutes to work every day, as a healthcare assistant in the NHS in Central London. His bike is very important to him, and he has invested a lot of money recently in repairs and accessories to enhance the enjoyment he gets from it.
On the night of the 18th of August, whilst Jorden was at work completing a 12 hour night shift, somebody decided to steal Jorden's front tyre from outside the hospital where it was parked up for the night. They also cut the brake cables which connected to that wheel, therefore rendering his bike completely un-rideable. It is common for bike thieves to damage the bike in such a way that the owner decides to leave it, only for the thieves to come back at a later date and take the rest of it to sell for parts. Thankfully he was able to get his ‘unicycle’ home! Aside from the obvious grievances about not being able to commute on his bike, this has also given rise to a financial issue where he cannot afford to get the bike repaired at this stage, and so will have to use some of his savings to purchase a cheaper replacement bike in the meantime - money that was meant to go towards a new bike computer for monitoring his rides.
It is widely known and agreed that NHS staff are highly underpaid, and amongst the financial stress of living in London among the cost of living crisis, this was just a wholly unnecessary set back for someone who was simply doing their job, providing care.
Jorden is also a very proud individual and so will probably detest the fact that I've created this Go Fund Me, however the kindness of people goes a long way, and if any donations can be made to help Jorden repatriate some of the money lost due to this cruel and selfish act, I know he would appreciate it so much. All proceeds will go towards repairing the old bike, any replacements and equipment needed to continue his travels, as well as helping towards any temporary travel costs required to commute in the meantime.
Thank you so much for reading this and hopefully you share my sentiments of injustice, and believe Jorden deserves a break. Please share with other people who can spread the word as well.
Kind regards
David
