Nizhoni Hozho Project

Donation protected
Nizhoni is Zuni Edgewater, born for Caucasian. Her maternal grandfathers are Start of the Red Streak People Clan and paternal grandfathers are Choctaw. She was born in Tuba City, Arizona but currently resides in Homewood, Illinois. Nizhoni is using her gift of sewing to make ribbon skirts for residential students attending schools on reservations. She started off with schools on the Navajo Nation and is reaching out to other tribal schools on reservations. This project means so much to her. Being the oldest sibling of 5 girls and attending Tuba City Boarding School for half of her 6th grade year; she was thankful to meet so many relatives and understand k’e(kinship). Her experience living with her grandma and being around relatives help mold her into the young lady she is today. She was crowned on October 6, 2018 as the 2018-2019 Jr. Miss Indian Chicago. Any donations you make will help with materials needed to make ribbon skirts. Ahe’hee Thank you!
