A second chance

Hi, my name is Jacoline. We are a family of 4, myself, my husband Juan Van Wyk and two beautiful boys, AJ (6 years old) and RJ (almost 2 years old) , originally from South Africa. In 2021 we were blessed with our youngest son RJ. He was born with a very rare type cancer called Pleuropulmonary Blastoma. Being a survivor of CA myself, it was one of the most difficult things to face. Our little boy was fighting every day to survive. After multiple surgeries and different treatments, RJ started showing improvement. Myself and the boys are on british passports and with the current situation in South Africa and RJ's condition, my husband and myself made the decision to move to Scotland to try and give both our sons the best possible future they can have. I moved to the UK by myself at first, leaving kids and daddy in South Africa behind to get everything set up for them in the UK and started working for a hotel in Scotland in March 2022 and made them fully aware of our situation and what we were fighting for. I turned to an immigration lawyer for assistance as well to help speed the process up for the rest of the family to join me as soon as possible as my husband does require indefinate leave to remain - parent route under extreme circumstances - in order to be with us in Scotland. November 2022 I returned back to South Africa as RJ developed new symptoms and was not doing too well. Now we were racing against time once again for RJ and his new symptoms, not knowing what lies ahead for the little one. The doctors in South Africa assisted in transferring RJ's case to the Royal Childrens Hospital in Glasgow. The Royal Childrens Hospital confrimed they will assist with RJ's treatment and condition and scheduled to see him in the first week in February 2023. The hotel in Scotland I was working for since March 2022, confirmed my employment for upcomming season starting in March/April 2023 and said I can return in January 2023 to start working again. We returned to Scotland as a family in January. We arrived at my place of work just to be told two days later that the situation with my son is too complicated and the hotel asked us to leave. This left us without income and without a safe haven for the kids. We took up contact with the Council regarding the situation and the outcome was not what we were hoping for. The council was willing to assist myself and the kids, as we are on british passports, but my husband was left out on the streets as his IDLR application is still in process. The lawyer stopped answering phone calls and messages and left us stranded. Leaving my husband on the street is not an option for us for so many reasons. My husband is RJ's carer while I try and find new employment and a place to stay as well as to get his application finalised, now without the help of the lawyer. What we are asking for is assistance with living costs for our family. We need to get a private rental as the council cannot assist us as a family until my husband's application has been finalised. They cannot tell me how long this is going to take either as there is no definative time frame for the application according to UK.gov. The funds raised will go towards housing and living costs and any additional costs towards RJ's needs as well. Currently I am still looking for employment and a safe place to stay for the family. I have signed up with all the major recruiting websites and agencies as well as going from door to door to hand out cvs. We are willing to meet up in person with anyone who is able to assist in any way. Unfortunately the plan we had set in place for the big move went very wrong very quickly, all we can do now is get past everything that has gone so horribly wrong. We appreciate the time you took to read our story, any and all assistance and support is appreciated more then words can ever express
