Fran's Final Gift
This is a campiagn to honor my late mother Frances C.F. Dobinson.
My mom was a soldier, who served honerably from 1977 - 2008 achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. For 31 years she served on active duty in the US Army followed by a stint in the Minnisota National Guard and then in the US Army Reserve. She always thought of herself as a soldier first and loved the miltiary.
My mom was also an avid animal lover and doted on all of hour family pets. When my mom was diagnosed with tounge cancer back in 2013 she had a hard time with radiation treatments and her long recovery. To help her through her recovery we adopted our current dog buddy. Buddy was 8 week old sheltie when we got him and he was the best thing that could have happened to my mom during her recovery. From the moment we brought him home he loved my mom and he picked her spirits right up. He gave my mom purpose and someone to take care of. I saw the impact caring for him had on her and how it gave her back the energy and life that the radiation treatments seemd to be taking out of her. Buddy helped my mom beat her 2nd bout of cancer and get back to life as normal.
In 2015 my mom was diagnosed with a seperate form of bone cancer in her Jaw and underwent surgery to have it removed. During her Recovery she was diagnosed with a seperate form of skin cancer and unfortunately was not able to recover.
Since she recently passed on 01/10/2016 the family has wanted to honor her by making a donation in her name to charity. We wanted to choose a charity that would combine my mothers love for the military and animals. So we have chosen the charity K9's for Warriors. This is an organizaton the specializes in pairing service and companion animals to Veterans with PTSD and other disabilities.
After seeing first hand how my mothers dog helped her during her recovery I know how much the right animal can help. Veterans like my mom deserve our respect and those who came home with mental injuries need our help. So we ask that you please donate so we can all make a difference in the life of vet by giving them a dog that will help them heal.
Thanks
