HURRICANE MELISSA RELIEF FOR JAMAICA
Help Families Rebuild Hope and Stability
When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica, it didn’t just hit headlines — it hit home.
My name is Chafay Taylor, and though I live in Canada now, Jamaica is where my heart and my family still are. The storm destroyed homes, flooded communities, and left many people I love — including my own family — struggling to find food, clean water, and shelter. Every day I pray for the safety and health of my brother.
Hearing their voices over the phone, describing the devastation, broke me. My relatives and neighbours are still without steady electricity or basic supplies. Many have lost everything — from their clothing to their bedding — and are relying on the kindness of others to get by.
That’s why I started this relief effort: to bring help, hope, and healing back to Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica — the parish where I have family members who currently reside. Together, we can make sure no family is left behind.
WHAT YOUR SUPPORT PROVIDES
Your donation — no matter the size — will directly help families in need by providing:
Food supplies – Non-perishables, canned goods, baby formula
Hygiene items – Soap, toothpaste, sanitary items, wipes, deodorant
Clothing – New or gently used clothing for children and adults
Bedding – Sheets, blankets, pillowcases
Baby supplies – Diapers, wipes, baby food
First aid supplies – Bandages, antiseptics, pain relief essentials
Funds will also go toward purchasing and shipping these supplies directly to communities affected across Jamaica — including the parish where my family lives.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
If you’re local to the Brampton, ON area, you can drop off donations at our community collection point:
Drop-off Location: Brampton, ON
If you’re unable to bring items, your GoFundMe donation will go directly toward purchasing and shipping critical supplies to families most in need.
TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Disasters may destroy homes — but they can’t destroy our spirit, our love, or our unity. Jamaica has always been a place of strength and resilience, and with your help, we can make sure families have what they need to rebuild.
From my heart to yours, thank you for standing with us in this time of need.
— Chafay Taylor
