Hi! I’m Courtney. Just dropping in to call on a beautiful community for further support.
For my family, the timeline from June the 03rd 2024 to now, has been the equivalent to living in (what I feel most people would describe) hell. I know we hate essays, so I will cut out the itty bitty uglier uglies and keep it simple.
My baby cousin Bobby, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Medulloblastoma (a form of brain cancer) at 3 years old, on the 14th June 2024. The treatment to date, includes surgery to remove the tumour followed by intense Chemotherapy and Proton Beam therapy to which we thought, was kicking its butt.
In December 2024, we were informed that his scans were clear. However, after Bobby's treatment finished in February 2025, the final scan on the 18th March 2025 indicated concerns of a potential relapse. On the 06th May 2025, Bobby had another scan, which revealed that within 7 weeks, there was not only a regrowth of a tumour but there were now, two of the bastards.
(Blah blah in-betweens)... and Bobby’s cancer has now been ruled as incurable. His prognosis and treatment has changed from curative to palliative and we are pretty heartbroken.
In aid of all of this, we want to be prepared and we want to ensure stability, comfortability, and security in so many areas for our Auntie Steph, and her boys.
Sooo… me and my sister are putting on our walking boots to walk the Salt Path. The Salt Path is 630 miles long. We had initially set out to do this over the month of September (30 days), but admittedly... we both have fitness levels of pregnant pigs. So, we are splitting the walk. The trail starts at Minehead in Somerset, and finishes in Poole Harbour, Dorset via the South West Coastal path of Cornwall & Devon. We will take 2 weeks to walk from Minehead to Lands End (256.6 miles) in September, and then 2 week to do Lands End to Poole (373 miles) in April 2026. We will be documenting our journey for those who want to keep up with us and any donation's would be greatly appreciated. Any money raised goes directly to Steph.
This challenge is going to be all 3, physically; mentally and emotionally challenging for sure. But, this is nothing compared to a lifetime without our beautiful, happy, cheeky, and sweet little Bobby.
All our love,
