630 Mile Mission for Bobby; Every Step Counts.
Donation protected
Hi! I’m Courtney. Just dropping in to call on a beautiful community for further support. Here’s a bit of backstory. For my family, the timeline from June the 03rd 2024 to now, has been the equivalent to living in (what I feel most people would describe) hell. For the sake of this post, I will cut out the itty bitty uglier uglies and keep it simple.
My baby cousin Bobby, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Medulloblastoma (a form of brain cancer) at 3 years old, on the 14th June 2024. The treatment to date, included a surgery to remove the tumour followed by intense Chemotherapy and Proton Beam therapy to which we thought, was kicking its butt.
In December 2024, we were informed that his scans were clear. We were pretty hopeful, for our precious bean. However, after Bobbys treatment finished in February 2025, the final scan on the 18th March indicated concerns of a potential relapse.
On the 06th May 2025, Bobby had another scan, which revealed that within 7 weeks, there was not only a regrowth of a tumour (that had increased significantly in size since the last scan, confirming their initial hypothesis of it being back) but there were now, two of the bastards.
Bobby’s cancer has now been ruled as incurable. And anything beyond this point is to pro-long his life. His prognosis and treatment has changed from curative to palliative and we are pretty heartbroken, anticipating the worst. We have been told that without further Chemotherapy, he has 6 months. But with it, potentially another 3 months on top of that. Nobody has a crystal ball, and naturally being human beings of faith we continue to hope for a miracle. But the reality we are faced with is very different.
In aid of all of this, we want to be prepared and we want to ensure stability, comfortability, and security in so many areas for Steph, and her boys.
Sooo… September has 30 days. 30 days of which myself and my sister Charly are putting on our walking boots, to walk the Salt Path, (completing 630 miles) following in Raynor & Moth Winn’s footsteps. The trail starts at Minehead in Somerset, and finishes in Poole Harbour, Dorset via the South West Coastal path of Cornwall & Devon. This equates to around 21 miles PER day, and the plan is to camp throughout. We will be documenting our journey for those who want to keep up with us and any donation's would be greatly appreciated. Any money raised will be going directly to Steph, in aid of Bobby to help take care of certain expenses inevitably to arise.
This challenge is going to be all 3, physically; mentally and emotionally challenging for sure. But 630 miles is nothing compared to a lifetime without our beautiful, happy, cheeky, and sweet little Bobby.
Thanks for reading, and please feel free to share.
