Fundraising for Change - In Memoriam of Wes Smith
Donation protected
With heavy hearts, we come together to remember and honor the life of our beloved friend, Wes Smith. Wes was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Mourning his loss has been beyond difficult for the TCU community. One of the finest ways to honor Wes's legacy is to use our resources to create positive change toward protecting our students and spreading his faith.
Half the money raised in this fundraiser will support two organizations in Fort Worth: Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) at TCU and The Fort Worth Bike Patrol. The other half will be towards an Endowment Fund under Wes's name at TCU.
The Reformed University Fellowship is a community of students, "convinced" and "unconvinced" alike, learning to love God, people, and TCU. Wes was an active member of RUF, where he led weekly Bible studies. RUF held a special place in Wes's heart. Any donations will help honor Wes' involvement in their mission.
The Fort Worth Bike Patrol exists to create safer neighborhoods and build a better relationship between the community and law enforcement in Fort Worth. They protect locations popular with TCU students, including the Stockyards, Downtown, Near Southside, West 7th, and more. Providing them with resources will help improve safety within the TCU and Fort Worth communities.
The Endowment Fund under Wes' name goes towards a scholarship named after Wes, and a handful of additional resources and organizations his family believes should be funded. While Wes's family supports raising money for RUF and The Fort Worth Bike Patrol, keeping their interests in mind and ensuring Wes's legacy is essential.
Wes highly valued contributing to his community. He participated in Young Life, was acting philanthropy chair at Kappa Sigma, a member of Reformed University Fellowship, and volunteered as a coach for the middle school football team at All Saints' Episcopal School. We pledge to give back to the community and conduct positive change.
As Wes's legacy lives on through the positive impact he made during his time here on Earth, let us give a hand where it is needed. "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."
