Mission Uganda, Africa
I'm going to Africa!! The amazing opportunity to travel to the village
of Katubwe, Uganda was offered to me earlier last year by one of my uncle's
good friends. His name is Remigious Ssekiranda, AKA Father Remy and he is the
founder of a nonprofit organization called My Father's House.
Father Remy is
from Uganda and has family in this village still today. The organization seeks
to "Promote quality of life to the people of Katubwe Village focusing on
health, education and social services." I will be traveling in July of
this year for two weeks with Father Remy, his co-founder Enid and a handful of
other dedicated volunteers.
If you know me, you know I have wanted to travel and volunteer in Africa
since I was very young...now I am given the chance and I couldn't be any
happier to be going with such an inspiring group of people!
In the village, My Father's House has a clinic, a primary school with a
brand new library and a vocational institute for the adults. We will be with
the children all day, every day, helping in any way that we can. My hope is to
learn from them, embrace their culture and reach out to the needs of everyone
there.
All donations I receive will go towards my flights, lodging and food. No amount is small. Every bit counts and is very much appreciated :)
I urge everyone to visit My Father's House website and Facebook page in
order to learn more about the organization I am traveling with.
