Zambia Effort 2014

This is an invitation to become part of an extraordinary effort In Zambia, Africa. Contributors to Irene's involvement will be given a unique artistic metal creation that reflects the heart and vision of the team. In addition, everyone who commits to being a "sender" through monetary support, "prayers" and/or encouragement will be included in updates prior to leaving, when able during the mission with photos, special souvenirs and the he full "scoop" after adjustment back home.
Irene is part of five member team to this central African nation. Each team member is responsible for raising their support to cover costs. They will have been meeting and training for a year by the time of their departure. A connection to Zambia Messianic Fellowship (ZMF) and orphanage in the capitol city of Lusaka has been established. This team effort will build upon that relationship. We recognize the problems that just throwing dollars at a need can create. As a result, our work seeks to live out and implement the principles of God's Word for restoring prosperity at all levels of human experience. In other words, faith in Jesus' personal redemptive work is translated and practiced by following His ways in marriage, family, friendship, business, etc. Success by small steps and progress over a life time is the expectation of this long term effort. Therefore, the three to four week trip is one link in the long chain of an extended commitment to community with ZMF.
The orphanage in Lusaka will be the team's destination and focus. We will be teaching the children as well as offering encouragement and support to local teachers and support personnel. Some practical needs will also be met through possible building improvements to the existing compound and other needs that become apparent during their stay of which contributors will be kept informed. The team will eat and sleep under the same conditions of those they are working with. This includes typical twice a day meals of beans and rice while sharing Spartan accommodations. It is not a vacation! One of Irene's personal goals is to incorporate art projects from found materials into her interactions with the children.
More details of ongoing developments will be forthcoming as the departure date of April 30, 2014 approaches.
All contributions toward the success of Irene's Zambia Mission effort is received with much gratitude and acknowledgement of one's own personal commitment and sacrifice. Thank you for your serious consideration.
