Jack's Journey

Hi my name is Jack I am 16 years old , i have 7 siblings, (5 sisters and 2 brothers).

In 2014 at the age 7and a half I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukaemia (blood cancer), I was in hospital for 6 weeks having lots of chemotherapy, I was doing quite well during the maintenance treatment, unfortunately 13 months later I relapsed and the cancer came back, I had a sibling bone marrow transplant in June 2015, I developed skin gvhd ( treated 2017-2019 with ECP) & bronchiectasis 2019 to present day.

I have been well with no major issues , then in April 2022 I was sent home from school poorly, I was taken to hospital and diagnosed with Acute pancreatitis and sepsis ( don't know where it came from) I was in CICU for 8 days, sent home after 11 days in hospital to recover . I managed to sit two weeks of my remaining GCSE's,

Unfortunately I didn't get better, there is fluid around my pancreas and I can't keep food down, I've lost 11kg's in weight and I'm now back in hospital with a hickman line in ,( can't get canulas in as my veins keep collapsing ) an NJ tube and an NG tube to help with fluids, feeding and collecting air & bile from my tummy. I miss my family and my brother's and sister's although my Mum is with me and my Dad comes to visit.( still restrictions on visitors)

So this is my story.

I've had lots of people ask me if there's anything I would like whilst I'm in hospital or when I go home to recover and other people want to raise money for me by having their hair cut, I would like to put some money towards buying a Play Station 5 and some games which I was hoping to get for my 16th Birthday but I've been in hospital. So when I get home I can recover in my room with something to do.
